Section: Article Blog
Everything you'll need to know on how to setup your Article Blog section.
The Article Blog section displays a single blog post — featured image, title, author, date, body content, tags, and share buttons. It's the main content of your individual article pages (URLs like /blogs/news/article-handle). Toggle which metadata appears, choose the content width, and pick a color scheme.
Where to find this section
The Article Blog section is a system section on the Default article template. It renders automatically on individual blog post URLs.
1) Switch to the Default article template using the page selector at the top.
2) Click on the Article Blog section in the left sidebar.
General settings
Show featured image
Tick this box to display the article's featured image at the top of the page. The image is set in the article editor in Online Store → Blog posts. Default: on.
Show author
Tick this box to display the article's author (the Shopify staff who published it). Default: on.
Show date
Tick this box to display the article's publish date. Default: on.
Show tags
Tick this box to display the article's tags as clickable pills below the content. Tags link to filtered blog views. Default: on.
Show share buttons
Tick this box to display social share buttons (Facebook, X (Twitter), Pinterest, etc.) at the bottom of the article. Default: on.
Content width
Maximum width of the article content: Narrow (800px) for long-form readability, Medium (1000px) for general articles, or Wide (1400px) for image-heavy posts. Default: Medium.
Color scheme
Color scheme for the article page. Pick from the schemes set up in Theme Settings → Colors.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I write the article content?
In Online Store → Blog posts. Create a new article (or edit an existing one), use the WYSIWYG editor for the body, set a featured image, add tags, and choose visibility (draft or published). The Article Blog section renders all of this on the storefront automatically.
Why is my featured image missing?
Check that you uploaded an image in the article editor's Featured image field. Also make sure Show featured image is ticked in the section settings. Articles without a featured image render without one.
Can I add other sections to article pages (e.g. related posts)?
Yes — like any template, the article template supports adding any section. Common patterns: Featured Blog (related articles), Newsletter signup, Featured Collection (related products). Use Add section in the left sidebar while viewing an article template.
How do I customize the share buttons?
The share buttons are pre-configured for the most common platforms. To customize the order or add new ones (LinkedIn, Reddit, WhatsApp), edit the section's Liquid file via Edit code. Or use a Shopify share-button app for more flexibility.
Can I have different layouts for different blogs?
Shopify supports per-template overrides at the article level. Duplicate the Default article template (e.g. article.case-study, article.long-form) and customize. Then assign the new template to specific articles in the article editor under Theme template.
