Section: Age Verifier
Everything you'll need to know on how to setup your Age Verifier section.
The Age Verifier section displays a full-screen overlay that asks visitors to confirm they meet the legal age before browsing your store. Required for stores selling age-restricted products like alcohol, tobacco, vaping, cannabis, or adult products. Two verification modes available: simple Yes/No buttons or full date-of-birth entry (more legally defensible).
Where to find this section
The Age verifier is a site-wide section. It is rendered on every page of your storefront automatically — you do not add it from Add section. To configure it, find the floating Age Verifier badge inside the page preview in the theme editor.
1) Open the theme editor for any page (Home, a product, etc.). Scroll the preview area until you see the floating Age Verifier badge.
2) Click the badge. The right sidebar opens with the section settings.
3) Configure the fields below. Use the Enable checkbox to turn the section off site-wide without losing your configuration.
General
Enable age verifier
Master switch. Tick this box to show the verifier overlay on the storefront. Untick to disable temporarily without removing the section. Default: on.
Verification mode
Date of birth is more legally defensible for alcohol and adult products. Choose Yes / No buttons for a quick confirmation, or Date of birth entry for a stricter check that calculates age from the entered date. The DOB mode is recommended for jurisdictions with strict age verification laws.
Minimum age
Common values: 18 (EU alcohol/tobacco), 19 (Canada), 21 (US alcohol). Visitors who don't meet this age will be denied access. Default: 18.
Remember verification for (days)
Set to 0 to only remember for this browser session. How long the verification persists before re-asking. Default: 30 days. Stored as a cookie in the visitor's browser.
Content
Logo
Displays above the heading. Leave blank to show store name. Optional logo for the verifier card. Falls back to your store name as text when empty.
Badge text
Small pill at the top of the card with bold text. For example: 18+ Only, 21+, Adults Only. Leave empty to hide.
Heading
Main question shown to visitors. Default: Are you of legal age?
Subheading
Rich-text paragraph below the heading. Default: You must be of legal drinking age in your country or region to enter this site. Customize for your product type (alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, etc.).
Legal / footer text
Rich-text disclaimer at the bottom of the card. Default: By entering you are confirming that you meet the legal age requirement in your region. We support responsible drinking.
Underage denial subtext
Message shown after a visitor is denied (clicked No or entered an underage date of birth). Default placeholder: You must be of legal age to access this site.
Design
Card color scheme
Color scheme for the verifier card itself (background, text, buttons).
Background image
Optional. Displays blurred behind the card. Atmospheric image (lifestyle photo, abstract texture) shown behind the card with a blur effect. Adds visual depth without distracting from the question.
Overlay / background color
Used when no background image is set. Solid color shown as the page-level overlay behind the card. Default: #0d0d0d (near-black).
Card max width
Maximum width of the verifier card in pixels (340–640). Default: 480.
Underage redirect
Redirect underage visitors to
Leave blank to show a denial message instead of redirecting. Optional URL where underage visitors are sent (e.g. a public information page about responsible consumption). When empty, they see the in-card denial message and can't proceed.
Frequently asked questions
Which verification mode should I use?
For most stores selling age-restricted products, use Date of birth entry. It calculates the visitor's actual age from the date entered, providing a stronger record of compliance. Use Yes / No buttons only for low-risk stores where simple confirmation is enough.
How does the cookie work?
After successful verification, a cookie is set in the visitor's browser. They won't see the verifier again for the configured number of days. Set Remember verification for (days) to 0 to only remember for the current browser session — visitors get re-prompted on every new visit.
What happens to underage visitors?
If Redirect underage visitors to is set, they're sent to that URL. Otherwise they see a denial message inside the card and can't proceed. Either way, they're locked out of the storefront content.
Is this section legally compliant?
The verifier provides a reasonable barrier and a record of compliance, but legal requirements vary by country, state, and product type. Consult a lawyer for your jurisdiction. For US alcohol and EU tobacco, DOB mode is generally preferred. The cookie + age check pattern is the industry standard.
Can I disable it temporarily?
Yes. Untick Enable age verifier in the section settings. The verifier won't appear until you re-enable. The setting persists across page loads, so visitors can browse without the gate while you have it disabled.
